How to deal with non-paintable caulk?

Awhile back I did some outside caulking with white caulk. After I was done with the tube I realized it was non-paintable!!!!!! Non-paintable caulk should not even be allowed!!

Anyway - the caulk is fine but I need to repaint the areas - so do I:
a) pull up the old non-paintable caulk b) cover the old caulk with paintable caulk or c) something else?
